In terms of public health nothing is more important than your health and well-being. Many women only come to truly understand the process of birth and its transformative effects after a traumatic first birth under a system that often fails to comprehend the most basic needs of a woman in labour. A new undestanding of the powerful interplay of hormones that surround birth is coming to the foreground. A woman needs to move from one part of her brain to another in order for these hormones to take effect and for labour to progress. Many external factors can prevent a woman from doing this. This course explores all manner of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding physiology and shows how the physiology of one cannot be separated from the physiology of the other. The course also explores the importance of nutrition during pregnancy and how to avoid induction and offers yoga techniques for the early stages of labour.
Venue: Cat Bells, 27 Merrylands Road, Great Bookham, Surrey KT23 3HP.
